Squid is a New York native funk-soul-rock and roll band lead by power house vocalist Syd Swinson. It’s comprised of multiple songwriters which gives the group an array of genres, styles and sounds. What makes the band truly unique is it’s multi-ethnic and multi-generational mix of musicians which truly shines through in a live setting especially when the music starts taking a hold.
In 2018 Syd and her sister and long time musical collaborator Corey Swinson threw a musical improvisation party for their friends. That was the night her band Squid was created. Since then she has been writing music, preforming live with Squid and touring as a solo musician playing a range of instruments from guitar to djembe. Squid was born in a live setting and continues to thrive as a high energy unique musical experience.

Music we need now.” ~ Richard Barone (Performer, professor, author, and frontman of The Bongos)
